Editor: Welcome to the final day three of our 3 day fast! Our church has joined together with thousands of other Christians across the globe in prayer and focused fasting for healing, medical breakthroughs, and miracles. We have great anticipation that God will move as a result of our worship. Here is the day three devotion from our senior pastor, Joel Phillips.
JP: The first chapter of Joel depicts a scene of a devastating plague, leading to total economic collapse and agricultural devastation. This isn’t too different from what’s happening today on the earth. Fortunately, Joel gives a prescription for the extreme national crisis and the removal of the plague. The prescription is mass turning to the Lord in humility, united fasting, and prayer. “Now, therefore,’” says the Lord, “Turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” (Joel 2:12)
Are we not in another moment of devastation from this Coronavirus plague? Have the nations of the earth left their God or rejected the God of gods? Let us not miss the divine prescription or fail to seize this divine moment. Today, the third day of the Esther Fast, we lay hold of Joel’s prescription. Let us humble ourselves. Joel tells is to humble our souls with fasting and cry out, “Spare Your people, O Lord” (Joel 2:17)
This storm of sickness and death is releasing a demonic rage that creates all
sorts of upheaval and confusion. There is demonic strategy attempting to stop the program of heaven that is being carried out in these days. We must give ourselves to aggressive prayer, decreeing, “Not on our watch!”
In this fast let’s also contend for the breaking of the power of unrighteous rulers in realms of influence, and the sending forth of laborers into a world that is ripe for the gospel because of this shaking! With this response of our hearts, let’s believe that in this three day fast, sudden reversals of fortune will occur and that our prayers will be answered with a global outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the rains of revival in Joel 2:28? “And it shall come to pass afterward (after the fast) that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.” Would you cry out for your nation?
Confess your sins and the sins of our nation, and clothe yourself in the free gift of Jesus’ righteousness. Throw off shame and see yourself seated with Christ in heavenly places. Then prepare yourself, for we are entering the throne room of God with our brethren around the world to resist in the name of Jesus this virus.
Day 2 Devotion
JP: The coronavirus family is a big one—it includes the common cold, pneumonia, SARS, and the new coronavirus that’s spreading in worldwide. The various strains can cause very different ailments, but they have one thing in common: an external structure that features little crown-like spikes. Such spikes affect the way that a virus binds onto a host cell and infects it.
That’s what gives the family of virus its name.
In Latin and Spanish, “corona” means, “crown.” Not withstanding this etymology, the Bible tells us that Jesus has been crowned the King of kings. Listen to Gabriel’s words to Mary…
“He will be supreme and will be known as the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God will enthrone him as King on his ancestor David’s throne. He will reign as King of Israel forever, and his reign will have no limit.” (Luke 1:32–33, TPT)
The coronavirus may have a large family, but it’s nothing compared to God’s family! We have been brought into a family that includes kingdom authority flowing from God’s throne.
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.” (Philippians 2:9, NKJV)
Jesus’s name is above all names, and that includes sickness and disease! The power and influence everything must come under the authority of Jesus’ name. Let’s agree together today that the name of Jesus will rise above the outbreak of the coronavirus, and that this plaque will be removed from our globe!
(Day 1 Devotion)
JP: We are faced with a life and death situation with this Coronavirus. A casual approach to this prophetic worldwide crisis and this prophetic call to fasting could multiply needless casualties.
The Bible tells us of a wicked King named Haman who released a genocidal plot to destroy all the Jews. A godly man named Mordecai encouraged a woman named Esther to do something.
“Mordecai told Esther: ‘Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:13-14)
Faced with a life and death situation, Esther responds,
“Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” (Esther 4:16)
Desperate times demand desperate measures. For such a time as this we’ve been brought into the Kingdom! Let us respond in Jesus’ name and see the coronavirus cease its attack!
Editor: What is the Lord saying to you right now? How is he leading you to pray and prophecy over our world? Not sure? Ask Him! He is speaking right now, we just need to tune out the noise and the distraction and listen. Then the most exciting part comes- our response! See you tomorrow for day two!
We’d love to hear what the Lord is showing you! Leave a comment below!
